The Tumbes Peninsula School was crushed by two ships that entered the site during the tsunami, causing its total destruction.
The new modular school, donated by Anglo American and built by Tecno Fast ATCO, accommodates 218 students between pre-kindergarten and 8th grade. The schools have fully furnished classrooms, with computers, Internet connection, school supplies, library books, fittings for the teachers’ lounge, access and restrooms for people with disabilities, as well as thermal and acoustic insulation, all with the purpose of having the children go back to class as best as possible and feel that their lives can begin to go back to normal.
