Perhaps, this is the most difficult and spectacular engineering work we have ever built: The Operations Hotel for the Veladero mine, in the San Juan Province, Argentina, at 4,000 meters above sea level, which belongs to Argentina Gold S.A. Mining Company, a Barrick Corporation branch.
This Mining Hotel, delivered in early 2005, represented a huge challenge both for the overload demanded and the thermal insulation of the facilities. Its design introduces bedrooms for operators and managers, a kitchen-dining room, leisure rooms, a gym, an auditorium, engineering office premises, project administration, and a fully-equipped hospital. Water tanks, the reverse osmosis water treatment plant, the mains, the generator sets connection, water, health and firefighting networks, and the sewage water treatment plant are also part of the work.
