Portones II

Portones is a 7,448 square meters camp rented by Minera Los Pelambres to Tecnofast ATCO. It is comprised of eight dormitory buildings for workers with a lounge, five wings for supervisors with a relaxation room, a cafeteria for 700 people sitting with a kitchen, an administration office with a polyclinic, a custody module, a sentry module, warehouses, and restrooms. The logistic problems were the main construction difficulties since new and used buildings were used. The synchronization of arrival times for both types of modules and the client’s urgent need for having the camp up and running were some of the challenges faced. The project was awarded via direct negotiation and took 6 months in being operational since the purchase order was received.
